About Library

Law College Durgapur, popularly known “LCD” started its journey in 2004 along with its own library. Library is the heart of educational institutions. It is organized into various sections which are maintained by professionally qualified and skilled staff. Our library has good collection of text books and reference books including printed books, e-books, printed journals, online journals, etc. The college always tries to carry on teaching process as well as research culture among faculties, students and staff members. We have nearly 6000 volumes for Legal studies and Social works with around 900 titles. In addition, library provides service with nearly 1000 e-books including law text, rare books, etc; 13 printed journals and 14770 e-journals. All the books are classified according to Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) and are catalogued according to AACR II. The library is automated with library software with BAR CODEING facilities using library Software KOHA. LCD-Library has membership of DELNET, J-gate through which e-resources are available.

About Librarian

Dr. Susanta Koley, Librarian

Librarian, Dr. Koley is highly knowledgeable and experienced person who has been serving for last 30 years in several libraries in India and Nepal. He has introduced modern technologies for cataloging system and issuance of books. Dr. Koley completed graduation from Calcutta University. He obtained BLISc, MLISc (Gold medal) and Ph D (LIS) from the University of Burdwan. He has published about 22 articles in many national and international journals; news, reports, etc in different Bengali daily news papers.

A very devoted team is also there to support and assist him for the day to day activities. Apart from that the team is dedicatedly engaged regarding the library developmental work.

Library Facilities

Journal Section

Our library offers computerized circulation facilities and a wide range of information based serving ranging from text and reference books, magazines and periodicals to specialized journals. The LCD library is an authentic knowledge repository National and International printed and electronic books & journals and magazines.

Reading Room Facility

Library has an exceptionally large and beautiful reading room facility with seating capacity of 80 students. There is a section equipped with computers with internet facility. Most of the staff members at their off period spend at library for its ambience and availability of modern books and journals. There are many computers with net kept for e- books and e- Journal use in the reading room.

Other Facilities

The library provides both demanding and anticipatory library services to the users.

Reference Service : Our library has a separate reference section for reference purpose.
Photocopying Service: Journal articles and other materials that are not lent out can be photocopied for a nominal charge.
Inter Library Loan Service: Books/journal articles that are not available in our library can be procured from DELNET or other college libraries of the RAHUL FOUNDATION.
Newspaper Service: Library subscribes 02 daily newspapers for the benefit of its users.
Question Paper Service: Question papers of all the engineering examination are collected for the benefit of students.
